I have a case as such:

Ellen has a regular school timetable, which have been divided into 6
periods. She also enrolls into an online school for extra classes,
where the timetable is divided into 6 blocks. Ellen selects several
  courses to minimize time overlap.

The online school's timetable is in a timezone which is 17/18/19 hours
behind her local time, which is caused by a combination of daylight
saving differences over the semesters in two locations crossing the
  equator.

  Ellen's school period1 (9:10 - 10:00) on Wed conflicts with one of
the online school courses at block5 (15:30 - 16:30), which corresponds
to Ellen's local time (8:30 - 9:30). Ellen chooses the online course
at block5 over her school class at period1.

The issues are:

 1. What's the best way to deal with the changing timezone?

I can use IF statement to set the timeshift variable and use it to
calculate the time gap. However the expression [block5+timeshift] won't
increment Tue to Wed. I have to do a calculation prior to delegating to
`remind`. Below is a simple version:

    ...
    SET block5 15:30
    SET timeshift 17:00
    # The Tue should be Wed because AT does not honour time > 24:00
    REM Tue AT [block5+timeshift] DURATION [span_block] PRIORITY 2 \
      MSG Online course.
    REM Wed AT [period1] DURATION [span_period] PRIORITY 5000 \
      MSG Usual school class.

 2. How to cancel the low priority event in the situation of the
 overlap?

Period1, lower priority, event starts later than block5 and within its
duration. I want to display a calendar which only shows the block5
event and leave the period1 event off. Alternatively, a SATISFY
function helps to reject the period1 event on Wed. But this function
seem to be very difficult, if not impossible, and depend on the
executing order of block5 and period1 events.

I'd like to delegate the complexity of handling the dynamic time gap to
`remind`. It will make the update of two school timetables easier.

An alternative is to not display the lower priority overlapping event
 in a calendar generation.

Would anyone help me with the two issues?
