    Agree. What if I replace
    ```
    jc = other._jc if isinstance(other, Column) else float(other)
    ```
    with
    ```
    jc = other._jc if isinstance(other, Column) else 
_create_column_from_literal(other)
    ```
    Would it still worth renaming to `_pow`?
