The fact is, you repeatedly assume one has done no research
unless they document it fully. I don't have the time to write
to satisfy your needs. If someone had actual knowledge in
the area related to my query, they would respond with a
good answer (as happened with my yum problem).
I've been involved in LUGs, and many mailing lists,
and never encountered the "write a better question"
response to my queries.

I've been using Linux for over 10 years, and cut my teeth on
Unix in 1980. I have some idea how to look for resources.

I have seen your style of response when someone asks
an open ended question like "how do I set up Linux",
(which is what your favorite URLs are referring to).

My question was far more targeted than this.
My question was likely the same sort of conundrum which
people have faced when one day smbfs worked and the
next day it didn't. If this was the case, and one
knew something about it, the question was enough to
trigger an accurate response. But if you don't use this
technology, then you are uninformed of what I'm
referring to and you are not qualified to determine
if my question is a waste of everyone's time.

Stop trying to be the policeman of this mailing list.
