We rebooted one of our RHEL 5.4 systems today (2.6.18-164.6.1.el5xen)
and have a stuck cron job reporting the above error every two minutes.
The job is /etc/cron.hourly/mcelog.cron
While the system's running a xen kernel, we have done nothing to
configure or use it, although it appears the libvirtd and
rhn-virtualization-host are enabled in chkconfig.
The actual sub-command from the cron job that is stuck is 'cat
/sys/hypervisor/uuid'
I've stopped the libvirtd and rhn-virtualization-host services manually,
and killed the mcelog.cron job; still the 'cat' processes (a couple of
them) cannot be killed.
Short of another reboot (inconvenient to users), what might be done?
