MS seem to be backing away from Itanium a little; not all flavours of Win2k8 are available on Itanium and if you wanted to run virtualised desktops on, say, Windows 7. Back in 2004 (http://tinyurl.com/ycbaf9k) microsoft were talking about removing support for itanium 2, I don't know if that's still the case (or even relevant) but anyway, the RHEL decision is most likely about the demand they're seeing: next to none and certainly not enough to justify the costs. jch
