When I set up RAID-1 /boot at home, I just added a second grub entry for
hd(1).  I can boot off hd(1) if hd(0) fails.  No need for dmraid or
fakeraid for peace of mind on a home system.  Of course, Enterprise
class hw RAID makes sense for data center servers.
