Howdy, I know enough to get into trouble, and maybe a little bit more. This morning I hooked one of my customer's rhel 5 computers to rhn to get updates using run_register from their system and that went well it seemed.
Then I got all uppity and tried to do a yum update. The system told me of all the packages that were in need of updating and then spoke of all the dependencies. So far so good. Then it was time to download the packages.... I got the following stuff to read: Total download size: 849 M Is this ok [y/N]: y Downloading Packages: Error Downloading Packages: netpbm-devel - 10.35.58-8.el5.x86_64: failed to retrieve getPackage/netpbm-dev el-10.35.58-8.el5.x86_64.rpm from rhel-x86_64-server-5 error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found enscript - 1.6.4-4.1.1.el5_2.x86_64: failed to retrieve getPackage/enscript-1. 6.4-4.1.1.el5_2.x86_64.rpm from rhel-x86_64-server-5 error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found redhat-rpm-config - 8.0.45-32.el5.noarch: failed to retrieve getPackage/redhat -rpm-config-8.0.45-32.el5.noarch.rpm from rhel-x86_64-server-5 error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found (and on and on for pages) What would a reasonable troubleshooting sequence be? It is certainly possible that this customer, also knowing enough to get into trouble, has who knows how many rules in his router to prevent me from updating his computer. Perhaps my customer is innocent and the system has something set to goof up. Thank you in advance for guidance!
