I'll echo that determination. I've been using BB/Hobbit/Xymon as an SA for over 
a decade now and I continue to remain impressed by its simplicity and (within 
Hobbit/Xymon) the elegance of the design. It records what I want to and is 
easily hookable/extendable.

That being said, it's more useful as a "host" monitoring system instead of a 
network-focused system. I'd actually recommend using multiple, overlapping 
systems for a while at your installation and decide organically what you need 
and what you don't.
