Do you have cpuspeed running? The CPU is probably throttling down due
to inactivity.
[skaven@plump ~]$ service cpuspeed status
Frequency scaling enabled using ondemand governor
[skaven@plump ~]$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -A2 Opteron
model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 1222
stepping : 3
cpu MHz : 1000.000
The Opteron 1222 is a 3.0Ghz processor -- it runs at 1.0Ghz when idle.

Hi folks,
When I do cat /proc/cpuinfo on my IBM HS-22 blade servers I see:
model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHz
cpu MHz : 1596.000
where as on the older HS-21 servers I see:
model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5440 @ 2.83GHz
cpu MHz : 2833.505
Why do I see the cpu MHz to be a lot less on the HS-22 than what the
model name info represents? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Win
