As the dot's are used to delineate (or have been in RHEL4 and RHEL5 package
names) where rpm should stop looking when doing which is newer comparisons.
ehh? the RPM rpmvercmp code does not 'stop looking' in such
cases; "." has no such 'magic' meaning as a delimiter
