Yes, this is true. However, the scale of piracy was far lower...it wasn't done via mass file-sharing (eg. Napster), it was a kid making tapes for his friends out of his college dorm room...10 tapes would take 10 hours to make, not just attaching some files to an email and pressing "send". It's the scale of what is possible now that has the music industry with their underwear all in a bunch. > However you STILL had issues with priracy in ASIA before it was "easy" > to make perfect copies. Yep, and the music industry in Asia sucked then, too. It has sucked for a long time. > The illegal copies you can buy in places like ASIA are not just a burned > copy, they are pressed CDs with album art and everything. This is not > even cheap today. Hell I would not even be surprised that a Sony/BMG > black market CD found probably even contains the rootkit DRM crap on > it. In Asia (particularly China), it is WAY cheap, even with the album art et al. -- PhilNYC Sonic Spirits Inc. http://www.sonicspirits.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PhilNYC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=837 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16867 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
