Well your issue really would not have much to do with Gentoo anyhow. I just check my ripped FLAC using EAC and GRIP (i happen to use both), and Windows does NOT see the tag info. Which does not surprise me because Windows I guess does not understand Ogg comments which is how FLAC is tagged. With Winamp, did you install the FLAC plugin for it? Have you tried Foobar2000 and see if it sees the tags correcly in windows?
