I agree that the slimserver interface is really not nearly as good as the Squeezebox.
I'm having the same problem with thumbnails. Of about 1500 albums, I have about 760 images as .folder.png and folder.jpg. Only about 63 show up as thumbnails when I go to "Browse Artwork". I'm running the 2/10/06 build of 6.2.x on a 2.4 Linux kernel (that is no where near running out of RAM).
