Somebody would have to come up with an elaborate schema that covers all these varied requirements. It reallly depends on how much detail people want and are willing to provide.
There's no reason we couldn't simply invent additional tags and hope they'd eventually be adopted into the ID3 and Vorbis standards. In the meantime we could use software or scripts that make use of the non-standard tags. I don't think non-standard tag fields would break the files as far as playing them back - most hardware and software only looks at a small subset of tags, anyway. One thing you could do on your own is create an elaborate SQL database with all the extra info you'd like. You could use it in creative ways to serve your own needs, and if someday the tags can carry the extra info, then you just populate the tags from the database. -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22333 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
