I made init() in slimserver.pl call shuffleworks and then rescan playlists. Now, when I fire up slimserver, I always have a fresh, random playlist in Browse Playlists. This is nearly transparent: I still have to makeworks when I rescan for new music files, but obviously I could make that automatic, too.
I suppose the elegant way to do this would be to make it a plugin, so that you could push a button on your remote to trigger randomize and rescan, especially if you don't restart your server every day. It would mean learning the plug-in semantics, though, and I personally have no need for it. Anybody who does is welcome to have a go, of course. I make lists for my portable player, too. I have a wma tree that mirrors the flac tree, much like what you'd get with flac2mp3. I just use the same works.m3u database of flac files (because they have the tags) to shuffle, and then replace the .flacs in the random list with the corresponding wma filenames. -- tom permutt ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tom permutt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1893 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22079 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
