If you say that other rippers produce no audible errors, you may want to rip it in "burst" mode.
Note: this is just EAC doing its job. It's encountering errors and trying to correct them, slowing down the drive in an attempt to do so. Also the fact that two different drives do the same thing really means there is some sort of error on the disc. Also - these CDs can sound fine in a normal CD player due to interpolation - the CD player guesses at what the sample should be.
