EAC has an option to disable autorun of inserted CDs. I found it quite
a reliable way to stop autorunning - once inserted, I might use another
program such as CDEX to do the ripping, as it can be quicker with
copy-protected CDs.

I have frequently resorted to illegally downloading FLACs of CDs I have
bought, just because it is easier than trying to rip them. Ho hum.
