Thanks for all the advice.

As an update.
I tried the extra two registry keys, no luck.  But thanks, I never saw
notes on those entries.

I had previously tried using the [Shift] key as well as opening EAC
first before inserting the drive.  Still freezes.

It is definately a fresh version of XP.  As I think I mentioned, I just
crashed a hard drive and had to buy new.  The new drive is pretty bare
bones with XP, SP2, Firefox, EAC, and Vanguard (Game,).  I also tried
inserting the troubling CD before I installed my Antivirus, just in
case the AV didn't like it.

Anyway, down to hardware.  I have an old non-DVD, CD drive in my bin of
old parts that I will try tonight.  Good time to do it as the case is
still open and my hard drive is out of the way.  Still sitting on top
of the case because I broke a mounting tab pulling out the old.  It
bent and sheared before I even realized I was bending something.

I do appreciate the help.  Thanks again and I will let you know how it
goes.
