Right now, I'm having real trouble ripping a CD (Afterlifecycle by
Parallel or 90 Degrees). This sometimes happens; but what's
particularly frustrating is EAC's behaviour with Windoze.

Often, when I'm doing lots of ripping, I'll bring up Firefox in front
and do a little reading whilst waiting (you know, several runs through
War And Peace :-)) Usually, EAC's icon on the taskbar starts flashing
like mad. I've learned to ignore this, because whenever I look, it
turns out it doesn't need my attention at all. Heavens knows why it's
whining so.

Right now, because I'm having real trouble with this CD, I've resorted
to multiple attempts at different drive settings. (Secure mode was
taking forever, so switch to Burst Mode, etc.) This means that
sometimes EAC asks me to confirm overwriting pre-existing (but duff)
files. When it reaches such a point, do you think it might flash its
little icon so I know it needs some actual attention? No, it does not.
So after 10 minutes, I wonder how it's getting on - only to find it's
been sitting waiting for me to respond to a dialog.

VERY frustrating!

And while I'm at it... when it's having trouble reading a CD, it can
take forever to get it to recognise a button press (e.g. "Skip track"
or "Cancel").

And the "capture area" for the "shutdown when finished" checkbox is way
too big - the whole width of the dialog, not just the checkbox. The
number of times I've accidentally set it (say when I click in what
looks like an inactive area of the dialog to pop it to the front), gone
off for a pint or three, then wondered why my PC has shut down (and the
music stopped, if I'm using the Squeezebox at the time)...

Now, I'm very happy with EAC as a ripper - especially as I keep finding
pre-EAC rips that are god-awful - and the recent changes to AccurateRip
integration are brilliant; but this blinking problem is a pain!
