That's more or less what I'd like to do. The problem is, is there some way to identify in script, which files are WMA lossless? If I can solve that issue, I can easily enough find programs to do the transcoding (actually I know I could use the WMP SDK to do figure it out in C#, but I'm just wondering if somebody has already done it). Worst case I could do it by hand, just by looking at which directories are the biggest.
The bigger issue to solve is the ability to take a directory of mp3/wma/etc. and then re-rip from source to a defined format, preserving all tags (e.g. custom tags that aren't in public repositories such as Gracenote/AMG/MusicBrainz/etc.), and automatically update Slimserver with the new filename. My problem is I have 500+ CDs and about 80% or more are in lossy formats. I'd also like to be able to select the format based on how I've already rated the tracks (e.g. lossless for my favourites, and lossy for the stuff I care less about). Maybe I am the only person who's ever felt a need to do this sort of thing :) Anyway, thanks for responding.
