...That's what all this R/E/T/T'ing has become like, in that there is a saying that you have to build one house just to learn HOW...to build a house!
Case in point, me for instance. I ripped over a thousand tracks, eight hundred of which were in WMA lossless format before I discovered all the things I couldn't do with WM files. And before I discovered ReplayGain. So...I ditched everything and started over. Two hundred plus rips in, I realize having the Volume Normalization on while I rip may not be a good thing --ARGH! But at this point I don't really have the grit to start from scratch again, so I guess I'll just try to finish and then if I decide I can't live with whatever the audible results of my boo-boo are, I'll re-do those tracks later. A couple of points: I hate apps with no helps, or with helps that are so poorly written I can't understand them anyway. (Granted, I am no computer guru.) And it seems many instructions are written by computer programmers for computer programmers, which is not really helpful to everyday hacks who don't necessarily even know what a "command line" or "script" is. To channel Archie Bunker for a second, "You'ze people seem to think everybody understands your computer lingo, but we most assuredly don't. I suspect some people take pleasure in that. Maybe it makes them feel superior. Which I guess they certainly are in that regard! Anyway, people slam the Microsofts and Bose's of the world for dumbing down their products. Well, yeah! That's why they're so successful, eh? ...ah, i feel better now! -- jdm56 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jdm56's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9919 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40080 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
