Those WAVs containing low-level hiss might be just the ticket. Try sending them to the SB3 (with volume at 100%) and sending the digital out to a DD/DTS decoder.
EDIT: Oh, I see you're trying to get STEREO files. Maybe what you've got are ac3 (Dolby Digital) files. But try sending them to the SB3 anyway.
