If I'm interpreting this correctly this means 4-5 seconds for a single

For a 50000 file library this would mean that a full rescan take about
60 hours, would that be acceptable ?

Of course, for FLAC files there is really no reason to calculate a
checksum since there already is a pre-calculated available inside the
file.

Some additions:
- There has to be a tool which is easy to use to manage the metadata.
Compare with the different graphical tagging softwares available.
- SqueezeCenter has to be able to view and browse the library based on
the data.
