I appreciate if somebody with large collection of CLASSICAL music can share his/her experience advice on the following issue
Is it a reasonable approach to tag each musical opus (like sonata, symphony string quartet) etc as a separate album) ? What a pluses and minuses and anybody actually did it. I have over 800 classical CD and I am about to purchase D-Link NAS and put all of them into FlAC (now it's a terrible mix of mp3, flac and alac). In order to do correct tagging in terms of composer/conductor/soloist/orchestra etc I thought to break each classical album (with exception of recitals, operas and oratorias) into separate album each contains of a single musical opus. Things like opera and oratorias which sometimes span multiple CDs I would like actually to MERGE into a single album, same with symphonies of Mahler which some of them need to CDs each. The ONLY CD I plan to left intact is a single album recitals. Since (unfortunately) the tag "opus" is lacking it is the only way I see to ensure correct tagging. Also, it's the only way I can listen, for instance, to Beethoven sonatas in random order (except of course me3rging all the parts of the sonata or any other opus into a single track which I don't want to do) Your opinions/advises will be much appreciate it as well as a personal experience ( I am also concerned I'll run into some sort of technical limitations, slow browsing if I have many thousends of albums instead of hundreds) -- sl789 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sl789's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5667 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45075 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
