If you haven't already, download mp3tag www.mp3tag.de/en and look at your correctly tagged files using mp3tag's "extended tags" options (Alt+T).
Note down EXACTLY how mp3tag displays the band and compilation tags. Next, open the .m4a files with mp3tag.
