It's actually the other way around, the other programs use band as
album artist so it shows up in the band tag when you look at it in
mp3tag. It's more common to find TPE2 used as album artist in programs
than the correct usage.  It's so common now they might as well change
the official usage. I have a friend that downloads a lot of torrents
and I loaded his computer with mp3tag.  In over 15000 tracks I didn't
find one that had the Official Album artist tag.  Probably over half
had the band tag used as album artist.  These were mp3's so if you took
into account itunes mp4 files which use band as album artist you can see
getting people to use the correct album artist tag is pretty hopeless.
