Hi All, I seem to be constantly fighting with the 'Year' tag, and wondered about other people's experiences.
I use MP3Tag to manipulate my tags (actually Vorbis comments, as my library is completely flac), and typically I use Amazon.com to tag an album and get artwork. The issue I have is that Amazon.com sets the 'year' of a CD to the year of release of the version they're selling. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm after the year that the music was originally written/released. For example Genesis's 'And Then There Were Three' was originally released in 1978 according to AMG, but when I use MP3Tag to reference Amazon and get the artwork and tags, I can choose between releases in 1990, two in 1994, one in 2005, four in 2007, one in 2008, and one without a date... I'm curious about: 1. What folks are storing in the Date tag 2. Where you're getting the data to populate the tag 3. Whether there are any automated or semi-automated methods to update this tag. Thanks in advance!
