I finally got my setup up and running, started to rip CD's but cannot
get the track number to be identified as track numbers in
sqeezecenter...

This is what i do. Rip the cd in windows media player 11 (in wav), onto
my just built and very nice Windows home server with Sqeezecenter 7.1 on
it running as a service. The CD cover comes to the sqeezecenter by magic
(I assume it is saved in the wav file somehow) but the SC cannot get the
track number of the files I do not get why?

My file looks like this:
U2\How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb\01.Vertigo.wav

If I try to edit the file info with Roxio Edit Audio Tags, and set the
correct value it still does not work.

In the SC admin - Advanced - Formatting - Guess Tags Formats, I have
put this line as the first one:
/ARTIST/ALBUM/TRACKNUM.TITLE

But it looks like it doesn't work either, I maybe I just do not
understand what it is for???

The windows media Player 11 adds the random track tag information like,
title, album and genre automaticly. And if I add the track number with
the Roxio edit audio tag software it still doesn't show up as a track
number in SC.

Btw I do a complete rescan of the library every time I test, so there
should be no left over data in the system.

I'm looking forward to hear some good advice...
