Whilst I agree that dbpoweramp costs money it does an exceptionally good job and has accuraterip support (as does EAC) which is the primary reason that it is recommended. Which ripper you use is down to personal choice, the majority of people on here will start off recommending a ripper that has accuraterip support if you use accuraterip you are guaranteed an exact copy of the music that is on CD and at decent rippping speeds. The only two AFAIK that do accuraterip are EAC and dbpoweramp. They both have their advantages and disadvantages dbpoweramp costs money (USD36) but has a good GUI, multiple tag databased lookup options and acccuraterip support as well as the ability to do batch ripping and batch transncoding. EAC on the other hand is free and has accuraterip but cam be a bit fiddly to setup for the first time. My preference is dbpoweramp especially with the batch ripper from multiple drives, three drives all ripping at the same time, have a coffee come back three more...keep going and job done. As they say the choice is yours. -- MuckleEck Alasdair SB3 -> Linn Majik - Acoustic Energy Extreme 5 (garden) | SB3 -> Cambridge Audio 640R - Morduant Short (TV room) | SB3 -> AudioEngine 2 (bedroom) | SB3 -> AudioEngine 2 (kitchen) | SBR -> Music Fidelity X-A1 - Mission 701 (office)| Chumby (bedroom) | Two Controllers Last Fm http://www.last.fm/user/MuckleEck/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51203 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
