I agree, flac is the way to go just for tagging and bandwidth issues. 
I would also highly recommend dbpoweramp for ripping or at least EAC
over what you are using.  Much better rippers.  FLAC is lossless and if
you use a good ripper like dbpoweramp it will be an exact copy with
great tagging unlike using a wav file.  You'll get all the sound
quality of a wav with the space saving and great tagging that you won't
get in a wav.
