My understanding is that EAC will reread sectors as it rips the tracks. So though it appears it is only reading once, it is reading more than once. Despite this, I still get rips in the 32x range on discs where it doesn't have to slow down. The one time I tried to rip securely with dbpa, it read the track once and read it again (2 passes). Though it read it quickly, it seemed the process would be slower than EAC. Good to know that it will do a single pass if the checksum is OK.
