and am quite happy. So to all of you in this thread that have been telling me to just add more memory: you were right!
I learned something regarding the memory usage reported by task manager. Apparently Windows will start swapping even before it's used up all of your memory. After I added the new memory, the physical memory usage jumped right up above 1GB, whereas before, it hovered in the mid 800MBs. Vista machines should NOT be sold with < 2GB. The additional memory made a huge difference in the performance of the machine. It boots faster. Processes load more quickly. Vista is usable now. :-). I haven't booted the Ubuntu partition in weeks now. So the next time I have a pile of CDs to rip, I'll give dbPowerAmp another spin. -- maggior Rich --------- Setup: 2 SB3s, 1 duet, 1 receiver.
