I did character set conversion when I made the patch for the MusicIP plugin, although I didn't fully understand what all the various encoding formats were, etc, it seemed to work. SC took my patch and tidied it up, and in the process I think this got a little broken.
I can't remember if it is working for me now or not; essentially I try to avoid accented chars in my filenames!
