I have a lot of classical albums. The only one I have seen where
indices were used was the first issue of Bach's Goldberg Variations by
Gould (1981 version). That one had only one track; all parts were only
indicated by an index. Most CD-players can't handled that type of disc
very well (e.g., I have seen just one player I think where you could
skip to the next index; most players only skip to the next track). On
all later issues of this disc (one of my favorites), the indices were
replaced by tracks.

So, I also never felt the need to use something else than flac-files
per track. Until now, all my albums -- including the classical ones,
where on some discs a movement is split into several tracks -- play
flawlessly. Adding a tag pregap while ripping would of course be
disastrous in those cases.
