Correct. It only plays (up to?) 16-bit. I'm using a custom-convert.conf
entry for FLAC to FLAC specifically for SoftSqueeze that converts
everything via sox to 16/44.1. Using a SoftSqueeze custom entry, and
possibly one for SqueezePlay as well, means your HDCD transcode won't
affect the soft players. Of course, one could included your wrapper in
those custom commands as well but their may be no audible benefit after
downsampling. 

As an aside, I'm interested in why SC picks the transcode command line
for these HDCD encoded files as I thought they were 16/44.1 as far as
the rip was concerned.
