Can you share your convert.conf for softsqueeze?  I tried a few
combinations
and couldn't get it to work...

RE: why transcoding is picked:  I thought I read a while back that
whole album flacs are always transcoded because you can't
easily/precisely seek within the compressed stream.  You need to
uncompress the track you want, then recompress it again...  This is
from memory only.
