I always use EAC to rip to Wave then manually convert to FLAC because I
then have -complete- control over the tagging. On the Linux build of
SC, the flac binary is included and it's a later version than the one
shipped with RHEL 5 and is faster.

The tags are entered on the command line during the Wave to FLAC
conversion and I know -exactly- what they are. As I said, I checked
them with metaflac, a Linux binary for manipulating data within a FLAC
file, for my own sanity and they are what I wanted them to be.

A full clear and rescan did not resolve the issue. I'm guessing that
was because it found the old MP3 files and catalogued them first.

SC is definitely guessing at what the tag should be rather than taking
the tag -as is-. My first question is why? My second is what can I do
to stop it?
