Unfortunately, it turns out not to be true that if there are only two
artists in a tag, they are never reordered by SC. Here's what I've
found.

We can distinguish four display contexts: Album Display and Track
Display, in the web interface and in the controller. Album Display is
when you browse by Album or when you’re looking at the Album list for an
Artist, or what is displayed as the header for the Album when you’re
looking at the track list. Track Display is the header when you’re
looking at the Track details page, and also the display in Now Playing.
What’s relevant to this problem is that the failure to give preference
to the first artist in a tag only seems to happen in Track Display in
the controller. The web interface displays all Artists, whether in
Album Display or Track Display (what a concept!), and the controller
really does seem to always take the first Artist for Album Display.
I've tried it for over a dozen albums now, and no exceptions. The
misordering occurs with the controller’s Track Display.

I consider this to be bad but livable. If in the Album Display I
couldn’t count on getting Beethoven, say, then it would be necessary to
include “Beethoven” in the album title, otherwise I would have no idea
when browsing Albums whose Symphony No. 5 I was looking at without
drilling down. Since the problem is restricted to Track Display, only
the Now Playing screen is really affected. (After all, the details page
for a track shows all artists even in the controller.) And that may be
unaesthetic, but it isn’t really a problem. I don’t need to look at the
controller to know that I’m hearing Beethoven! And anyway if I don’t
know and get curious in a listening situation, drilling down is not the
irritation it would be when merely browsing.

This annoying situation would be resolved if only the controller would
display all artists in the Album Display and Track Display contexts,
just as the Web interface already does.
