Sorry if this is OT, SlimDevices wise...but I thought some of you may have experience in this realm.
I finally bit the bullet and let iTunes "guniusfy" my mp3 library. It took about 4 hours to get the job done. And the result? What complete BS. On 99% of my 20k classical mp3 tracks, all genius has to say is "Genius is unavailable for the song "xxx"." Just about the only classical tracks that Genius cared to take a crack at were Yo-Yo Ma recordings. And even there, the playlist results were laughable. Debussy followed by Biber followed by Pärt followed by Dowland followed by Verdi followed by Piazzolla. This is no better than a completely random selection. Genius has no taste. Clearly, "genius" isn't performing any sort of acoustic finger-printing and choosing playlist elements based on like sounds. Is MusicIP / MusicDNS any better than "Genius" at auto generation of classical music playlists? -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63614
