Hi all.

Well, the long awaited ADM AVI 9.1 speakers are here. I have 1000s of
mp3s which sound good, but they definately vary in quality (and
bitrate). However. Im after some advice on best audio quality for
ripping.

I have ripped some of my collection to highest 320 bitrate mp3s using
media monkey. I have tried FLAC with mediamonkey but the sound kept
cutting out on playback with the squeezebox. (MM also had an option for
how much to compress the FLAC. I dont know how much or if it should be
compressed?)I thought maybe the cut outs were showing up a weak wireless
signal as the mp3s would be sending less data?. But in fact, apple
lossless plays ok. And earlier today so did a WAV file ripped by using
EAC.

The Cds that we own that i want to rip. I think for now, I would like
the best quality, especially to really be able to judge the speakers.
Not really a problem with size, or being able to put on the ipod ( I
have loads of mp3s for that)

Does what programme I use to rip make a difference to the quality,
regardless of using the same format? And what programme and format would
you use for the above?

Cheers Paul
