Just as an experiment I ripped a HDCD album to ALAC using dbPoweramp Reference and also converted another HDCD album ripped to FLAC also converted over to ALAC. Both play fine in iTunes, but SBS won't touch 'em. Must be a problem with 24 bit ALAC files, 'cos 16 bit ALAC files play just fine in SBS. SBS will play 24/44.1 FLAC natively - personally I'd just stick with that instead of converting the files.
