I have recently figured out that If I mount the hdd containing the music at my server and mount the smb share to my desktop at the same path I can just do playlist with Rhythmbox or <insert favorite PC music player here> and don't have to edit them to correct the file path. (as sbs only uses absolute file paths)
I suppose this is linux & Mac only unless never win versions can mount drives where you want them and not at some random drive letter ? On my server the music hard-drive is at /media/music And i share /media/music to my network On my desktop i mount the share at /media/music Tada ! And point my Rhytmbox to that and save playlist directly to my sbs playlist directory scan playlists and it works duh!
