Many thanks for all your help. I think I have cracked it. Well with a short sample library of 500 songs anyway. Some single artist albums, some large compilation albums.
The only thing I have done that I don't see mentioned here is: Called the Various Artists default name (on the SBS) z_Various Artists. These seems to have the benefit of ensuring all Compilation albums with no Band (Album Artist) is listed after the Albums for a particular artists. Also, means that under Album view it puts them all last, rather than under V, which I found a paint as I have other named artists comeing after that, i.e. Winehouse, Amy; Vega, Suzanne etc. I guess the proof will be when I manage to udate all the remaining mp3's. Only 10,000, but its gonna take a while. One other thing (not sure whether this is the norm.) but I have to reboot my ReadyNasDuo after eachtime that I have rescanned (clear and replace) the library.
