I think sbs doesn't care that much about meta data. It simply calculates
the current file length as 100% when starting to play a file and stops
when reaching the end of it's progress bar... 

That's all and that's my problem: Why can't sbs just play a file until
it reaches EOF (!), like other software music players, f.e WinAmp or
Media Player Classic?

The idea to host the file via a web server was nice and I tried it, but
sbs is obviously "clever" enough to retrieve the file size from the web
server as well and still stops playing without batting an eye.
