That's the default sort order for a list of albums. He wants to permanently
see Home>Albums sorted by album name, but the setting also affects albums when
filtered to a specific artist.

No it's not. I'm repeating myself here, but maybe you didn't understand last
post? When you get a long list of albums ordered by artist, you don't know
where to jump down the list to find what you are looking for. And if albums
have multiple artists/album artists, it is not always clear what artist name
each album may be sorted under. e.g. Sorcerer by Tangerine Dream is a
soundtrack, so you may call the album artist "Soundtrack". This will be sorted
under Soundtrack, but someone else may expect to find it listed under Tangerine
Dream.

If a user knows he's looking for that album, it would be easier to navigate to
the album *either* by Artists > Tangerine Dream > Sorcerer or Artists >
Soundtrack > Tangerine Dream.

Of course, user could also use Search ;-)

But that's not easy to do from all user interfaces. Eg. on Touch, you can't
change the sort order from the Browse Albums list (you set it in the Settings >
Advanced > Albums Sort Method, which is not user friendly if you need to keep
changing it when browsing different lists).

I don't understand. *You* only use a single list of albums, that you change
the sort order for to find things in different ways (except it can't reproduce
Browse New Music), whereas the different Browse methods can be used to present
smaller lists that are easier to navigate to find something (if you know what
you are looking for).

Just weird.

>until home>artists does artwork, i will prob never use it.
What artwork would you expect for artists? What value does it add? I suppose
it could attempt to look up artist names and download a picture of the artist
from Last.fm or something, but why? It's an interim level in order to filter
albums to a smaller set. Once an artist is chosen you see artwork next to each
of their albums.

>if i wanted to browse by years for ALL albums, i'd either change my
>sort in home>albums, or do home>years, although i never have done that
>and i don't have SBS in front of me to even see if home>years is an
>option.
Would you want some artwork for each year too? :-) What would the artwork for
2010 look like for you? And maybe some artwork for each genre too?
