They seem to be tied to Kodi and nothing else though. Personally I don't want every album/song tagging with the entire discography of the artist. I guess it's more use for a databased system for looking up info about artists which is not what most music playback software is used for.
If I want to find info about an artist I'd just use any of the websites that provide it. For playback and my own library I just want the information about the albums I have which is what current tagging solutions allow, down to the album artwork, covers etc. If you're migrating to an equivalent of Kodi you'd be better asking on those product's forums, LMS isn't such a system.
