thanks for the url.  i hadn't seen peanut linux before.  it does look like a really
small distribution, i like it.

peanut linux does use kde1.1.2, which is significantly faster in terms of startup time
[from login to desktop appearing].  since we are using kde2, which isn't finished yet,
the gui startup times will be increased.  it will decrease somewhat as kde2 is
finalized, but not to the point of being as fast as kde1.

if you do find that redmond linux is slower than other distro's with kde2 loaded, i
would like to hear about it.

btw, are you using startx?  kdm should be up and running so that you can login from the
gui.  is it working correctly?
