I want to close the "where to host RLUG" chapter of our collective lives... we have other fish to fry. So, I'll discuss our new hosting situation -- as it has developed since last posting -- and issue an ultimatum.

The Student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery has elected to be our UNR proxy. They will reserve rooms for us at our request -- no strings attached. We will have to re-negotiate this arrangement upon election of new ACM officers. This will not be an issue.

So, the ultimatum: Since we now have a stable hosting arrangement at a location that fulfills our requirements for both facilities and technology (and we didn't have to sign anything), I'm going to give everyone one month to find a new location that they think will better suit our organization. Keep in mind that whatever location you find MUST be stable -- we will be able to use the location for a least one year (I don't want to jump between locations every month). After this month I don't want to hear about hosting again! Our efforts should be focused on more pressing issues, like community development, membership, and networking. Keep in mind though, parking is still an issue (which reminds me... I need to update the "getting to RLUG" page), so don't accept UNR as the ultimate solution.

Reading the postings about UNR, it appears that the Campus location may
not the best for us long term because of:

        A. The extra strings attached
        B. The parking situation
However....

KNPB has a large meeting room in their facility on Virginia St. AND for
the early hours that RLUG meets they may be willing to work with us.

Anyone have a contact over there?

Other possibilities:

If we have any RLUG members who also belong to:
  the Elks
  the Masons
    etc.

Each of the lodge halls usually have meeting space.

Just trying to think outside our usual box(es).
