I would think a restaraunt wouldn't be the most conducive place to have a meeting, especially if you are bringing in a speaker. Though I admittedly have been to two BALUG meetings that were held in restaurants and went well. The meetings lasted a lot longer than two hours due in large part to the accomodations, getting everyone fed etc. These were also not normal meetings, but had special guest speakers and they required the purchase of tickets to cover the dinner etc. Of course BALUG is huge compared to RLUG so it might be a bad comparison.
Has anyone looked into the local tech businesses? IGT, gametech, server works, or someone along those lines? It's possible one of those companies has a conference area/room that would work, and a corporate sponsorship like that could also help lead to additional speakers.
