My linux box (Ubuntu Breezy) does not see any flash drives I plug in -
but I could have
sworn it used to and I know it was able to read an external drive.
My Palm PDA works fine plugged into any of the USB ports but now neither
my external usb hard drive
nor the flash drive seem to be recognized
This is the output from dmesg:

It's like Linux kinda sees it but doesn't.
I vaguely recall doing something involving a hotplug configuration that
might be impacting the situation but sure do not recall details.
Ideas? Solutions that do not involve hammers?
